greatness

this passed weekend, i had an opportunity to reflect on dr. martin luther king's life, the journey of a man who believed that every human being could achieve greatness. he spoke, "everybody can be great, because everybody can serve" reminding us of the power of community and the potential of our own impact on other people's lives. he was deeply in touch with his mortality, knowing very well the precarious nature of his cause, a simple message that all should be valued equally. he ventured forward everyday, aware and willing to die for the rights of people. "if a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live." harsh, but i'm provoked and challenged to inspect my own carelessness, laziness and focus.

he was a great man who fought to serve others with fervor and humility. i admire you. thank you, MLK Jr!
