the golden man, the guises, and camera hoarding

i went into a state-office and found a golden human being.

yup, the security guard/receptionist/administrator (he played all three roles) was absolutely pleasant. he was a white, early 50s male who had the rustic vibe of an outlaw in western movies and all the wrinkles of a man who's had his share of struggles. the most striking and impressionable aspect of him, though, was his kindness and patience, which made an incredibly exasperating, bureaucratic process of waiting and paperwork bearable. he tended to everybody's needs with great respect.

i went home and i wanted to photograph him - natural lighting, shining through the blinds of the dull office space and him sitting behind his fold up registration table, smiling. i wanted to photograph him because he's the type of extraordinary person in the guise of ordinary that i want to remember.

so, i should do something about it, huh? i've become a camera hoarder over the passed couple years. how did i become so lucky with all these toys? well, i woke up this morning smiling and wanting to take on another project. so, let's see where this goes.

the diana. (photo grabbed from yyellowbird: flikr - who also got a new diana!)
